Here’s what’s in it:
According to Chinese Medicine your stomach is strongest in the morning between 7-9am. This is a good time for digesting protein. What I found is that after a few weeks of eating this breakfast at this time my metabolism improved and I started waking up with a fierce hunger. Now I make a huge superhuman plate and this is my biggest meal of the day. I think of it as my rainbow rocket fuel powering up my spaceship (my body) for its daily travels around planet Earth. (Imagination is everything! ;)
Eating sweet potato in the morning means I have absolutely NO SUGAR CRAVINGS all day. I’ve always had a sweet tooth so this has been an incredible change for me. Sweet potato in your system helps to balance blood sugar and this is what stops cravings for sweet stuff. Your brain works much better when your blood sugar levels are balanced.
Kale is one of the most nutrient-dense greens out there. It’s so good with eggs. I rub a bit of pink salt into it before I steam it to make it less bitter. Now I feel weird if I don’t get my daily dose of kale. Fibre, minerals, vitamins. It’s green! Green is good.
I’ve been looked at a bit weirdly for eating sauerkraut for breakfast. Once you get past the unusualness of it you’ll find it complements the other ingredients so well. Why eat sauerkraut? It’s one of the best natural probiotics for maintaining a healthy gut. I love the taste too!
I could write a whole blog about pink salt. It’s the Himalayan rock salt that is full of minerals that your body needs to thrive. It’s the only salt I use now and I carry a bag of it wherever I go.
You can prepare this breakfast really quickly too. Steam the greens and sweet potato while boiling the eggs and time it so they’re ready at the same time. Add your sauerkraut and voila!
My body has never welcomed a breakfast as readily as the superhuman breakfast. Friends laughed at how often I posted photos of my morning meals on Instagram. I couldn’t help it. It’s that good! Not only is it easy to digest, it keeps me full all morning. I don’t even think about food until lunch time. This is quite something for a Taurus! Thank you Laura! I love you :)))
You can get quite creative with this breakfast and add all kinds of veg to it. I often add tomatoes, mushrooms, beetroot, sprouts and fresh herbs. I love arranging the food in beautiful mandalas. The whole superhumanbreakfast experience brings me such great joy!
